LuniMuni in 15 Languages: Stories for Bilingual and Multilingual Families
LuniMuni writes and narrates stories in 15 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian and Turkish. Each child's profile lists their own story languages; with more than one, your child picks the language for each story. The app's own buttons and menus start in the phone's language and can be changed in the parent area; the story language never follows the phone.
How do I set a child's story languages?
LuniMuni keeps story languages in each child's profile (the child profile).
- Open the parent area and your child's profile.
- Under "Story languages", pick one or more. Each language is listed in its own name: Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Nederlands, Svenska, Dansk, Norsk, Suomi, Latviešu, Русский, Українська, Türkçe.
Each child in the family has their own set: one child can have Spanish and English, another only English.
How does my child pick the language for one story?
LuniMuni shows the story's language on a chip at the top of the Create screen; with several languages in the profile, your child taps it and picks one under "Select Language" (three ways to start a story). The story is written and narrated in that language, by the same narration voice in all 15. The choice is your child's, on the Create screen, each time: one story in Spanish, the next in English.
Does the story language follow my phone's language?
LuniMuni takes the story language from your child's profile, never from the phone. A phone set to English can make stories in Latvian, Russian or any of the 15.
Can the app be in one language and the stories in another?
LuniMuni's own words (buttons, menus, messages) come in the same 15 languages. The app starts in the phone's language when that is one of the 15, and in English otherwise; you can change it under "Language" in the parent area, apart from the children's story languages, and the choice is saved with your account. You can read the app in your language while the stories come in your child's. Every screen is tested in all 15 languages on three screen sizes; no button or title is cut off in another language.
How does a family with several languages use LuniMuni?
LuniMuni gives each child their own languages and each story its own. A child growing up with two languages at home gets both in the profile and picks one each time; all their stories, in either language, sit on the same bookshelf. Two children with different languages each get their own set. The read-along light follows the words in whichever language the story is in (read-along and music); a child learning to read in the family's second language sees each word as it is spoken.
Does the language change the price?
No. LuniMuni counts plans in stories, and a story in any language counts the same.
